Incandescent Sky - Reviews

on Paths and Angles...

“Well wrapped into convincing arrangements, Ambient textures and a perfect sonority, the music has a pleasant freshness. A true delight for the ears from the first to the last theme."

"Incandescent Sky shows us the way great pop music sounds: light and sweet with a crunchy bottom that occasionally takes over and rocks. The aim here is literate experimentation, with enough drone to keep the tunes grounded. 'The Path of Resistance'n 'Ataranxiety', and the monumental 'The May Rules' rock and sway with Frippertronic deftness. Incandescent Sky's drummer John Orsi plays like a lead instrument, guiding the colors to fitting even negative space with rhythm. This is instrumental music that never falters, never wastes lines or ideas. More please.”

"From the spectacular album art photography (courtesy of MD Abelson and designed by Rebecca MacNeill) to the soaring musical arrangements on Paths and Angles, Incandescent Sky proves to be much more than just your typical musical fare. John MacNeill on keys, samples and windsynth, Mike Marando on bass guitar, John Orsi on drums, Mehool Patel on Warr guitar and Chapman stick and Don Sullivan on guitar, guitar synth, bass and keys flesh out intriguing compositions filled with bold sounds, whirring synthesizers, mesmerizing voice-overs and sterling syncopation. The instrumentation is so tightly woven and expertly played that it's easy to forget that this music is being made my man. Check out the mechanized precision of songs like "Ataranxiety," "Angles," and the almost eleven minute epic "The May Rules."

"All in all I really enjoyed this cd. In my opinion 80's - 03's King Crimson fans should get a blast listening to this stuff."
